Homestead Tip of the Day:
Pick herbs in the morning because that's when they smell and taste the best. If you have too many herbs, you can dry them, freeze them, or make special oils and vinegars with them. This way, you can use your herbs in cooking all year long.

Getting Smart with Money π°
Handling money can be tricky, like trying to solve a really tough puzzle, but don't worry! Here's a fun and easy guide to help you get better at budgeting, saving, investing, and keeping debt under control, so you can be a money whiz in no time.
Make a budget: Imagine if your money could talkβit might tell you it's slipping through your fingers! Start by writing down how much money you get and where you spend it every month. Use apps or a simple spreadsheet to keep track.
Start saving: Saving money is like planting a seed that grows into a money tree. Open a savings account and add a little bit of money regularly, like feeding your piggy bank. Even saving a little will pile up over time and help you when you really need it.
Learn about investing: Investing might sound grown-up, but it's just finding a way to make your money grow while you do other things. Start with something easy like mutual funds, which are groups of stocks that work together to make more money. You can ask a financial expert to help pick the best one for you.
Keep debt low: Think of debt like a backpack full of rocksβit gets heavier the more you carry. Pay off debts with the biggest interest first, like credit card debt, because that's like the biggest rock. You can make a plan to pay little debts first or big ones, but the goal is to make that backpack lighter.
Plan for big dreams: Whether you dream of a big, cozy house or a fun, long retirement, start planning now. Figure out how much money you'll need and save for it. If you have a job that offers a retirement plan like a 401(k), use it because it helps save money without paying taxes right now.
Equip yourself with knowledge, a dash of humor, and start plotting a course towards financial freedom. Let's keep your cash flow more "wow" and less "ow!"

Let's Talk About Mental Health π
Mental health is just as important as not getting sick with a cold or flu, but sometimes we forget to discuss it. Here's how you and your family can keep an eye on everyone's mental health and help each other out:
Learn the signs: Know what it looks like when someone might be struggling. Maybe they're not enjoying things they used to, feeling sad a lot, or sleeping too much or too little. Spotting these signs early can really help.
Talk about it: Make sure everyone knows it's totally okay to talk about how they're feeling, just like you'd talk about a scrape or a cough. Try to have regular chats about feelings so everyone gets used to it.
It's okay to get help: Just like going to the doctor when you're sick, it's good to talk to someone like a therapist if feelings are too big to handle alone. Let your family know that it's okay to ask for help.
Have info ready: Keep a list of people you can talk to for help, like counselors or mental health hotlines. Knowing who to call can make things much easier when someone needs a bit of extra support.
Show how to cope: You can teach your family good ways to deal with stress, like exercising, doing yoga, or having a hobby. Show them by doing these things yourself, too.
Make it normal to talk about mental health: Talk about mental health openly and without making it sound like a big deal. This helps everyone feel more comfortable and less alone.
Remember, just like our bodies, our minds need to be looked after, too! Talking about mental health can help everyone feel better understood and closer as a family.
Why not start the chat today? It's never too soon to care about how we're all feeling!

DIY with The Steady Home! π¨
Make Your Own Playdough! π¨
Project Overview: Want a super fun activity that's perfect for every member of the family? Create your own playdough! It's a great way to spend time together, and you only need a few things from your kitchen to get started.
What You Need:
Flour
Salt
Water
Optional: Essential oils for smell or glitter for some sparkle
Steps:
1. Mix it up: Put 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, and 3/4 cup of water in a big bowl. If it feels too sticky, just add a bit more flour.
2. Color it: Split the dough into a few small balls and squeeze a few drops of natural coloring into each one if you want. Knead each ball until the color looks really bright. If you want, add some essential oils for a fun smell or glitter for a sparkly effect.
3. Knead the dough: Keep squishing and squeezing the dough until itβs smooth and the color is mixed in well.
4. Create something cool: Now, you can make whatever you like with the playdough! Animals, flowers, carsβlet your imagination go wild!
5. Keep It fresh: When youβre done playing, put the playdough in airtight containers or sealable plastic bags so it stays soft and you can use it again.
Why Making Playdough is Awesome:
Itβs safe: Making it at home means you know exactly whatβs in it, which is great, especially for little kids.
Make it yours: You can pick your favorite colors and add things like scents or glitter.
Learning is fun: It helps you get better at using your hands to make things, and you can learn about mixing colors.
Fun Tips:
Playdough night: Have a night every week where everyone makes something with playdough.
Creative challenges: Set up fun themes to make things like space aliens or garden critters.
Show and tell: After making your creations, everyone can share what they made and talk about it.
Give it a try, get creative, and donβt forget to take some pictures to remember all the fun!
