Homestead Classes, say what??

Hey there!

Oh my goodness, I’m so excited! For months now, I have wanted to create valuable content for the group in different areas of “homesteading.”

I wasn’t sure if I was going to require it to be a volunteer basis, pay experts outside of the group, or utilize the current members we have in the group.

I couldn’t decide what topics were most prominent within the group. Whether we were going to have people pay per class or just pay for all.

I’m still figuring out the kinks, but here is what I do know so far:

Top requested classes are:

• Sourdough 101

• Pressure Canning & Water Bath Canning

• Gardening

Other requested classes are:

• Raising Chickens

• Processing Chickens

• Raising Quail

• Raising Goats

• Beekeeping for Beginners

• Composting

I’m absolutely in love with all of the topics so far! What else do you want to learn?

Some ideas I was thinking about was knitting/sewing or baking from scratch. Maybe another would be harvesting rainwater collection or starting raised garden beds?

I’m flexible on topics, but I do need your help. I believe your time is valuable! It’s important to me that I provide value to you, so you never feel like I wasted your time. I feel the exact same way about the people who will be leading us through these classes.

So, I’m asking for help, from you. I want to compensate each host for their time. Most are asking between $125-$175 per class. I’d like to give a small gift to each person hosting too. I’m going to put up $500 of my own money to contribute to the classes, but would you consider chipping in?

I’m thinking $3-$5, or whatever is on your heart. I believe we can raise the money to cover all of these topics + more to come! This is a “pay what you want” offer. You can pay more if you’d like, invite a friend, etc. Your donation will cover ALL the topics regardless of the amount. Consider it like buying a ticket to a semi put together homestead expo, haha.

Each class will have a Zoom Link for the livestream. It will be pre-recorded for a limited time for you in case you miss the live version. If you catch it live, you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions at the end. We may schedule another FAQ session after each class if we have a lot more questions about a certain topic.
